Building of the first radio telegraph station in Volujica, near Bar in 1904, initiates the beginning of radio broadcasting in Montenegro. The project was carried out on the agreement of Prince Nikola Government and wireless telegraphy inventor Guglielmo Marconi. Institutionalizing of actions within radio broadcasting domain, i.e. setting up of Radio difuzni centar, started with the establishment of the organizational part “Broadcasting Equipment and Communications” in the scope of Radio-Television of Montenegro. In 2005 Radio difuzni centar separated and established as an individual company pursuant to the decision of Montenegrin Government as the founder.

RDC completed the digitalization of broadcasting of TV programmes via the network of terrestrial transmitters in Montenegro. Broadcasting of digital signal began on June 17, 2015. Currently, the network which involves 110 locations provides availability of digital signal for about 97% of the population of Montenegro. RDC is planning soon to expand the network of digital transmitters and gap-fillers in order to let all households, that previously had analogue signal, have normal digital signal.

DVB-T2 standard provides the most efficient utilization of the available frequency spectrum and broadcasting of up to 20 various TV programmes of standard definition on a UHF frequency channel width of 8 MHz and it forms conditions for efficient broadcasting of television programmes in high definition (HD programmes).

RDC continues to develop its DVB-T2 network in order to increase competitiveness. In the tender procedure regarding obtaining permission for use of radio frequency spectrum for provisions of services concerning management of electronic communications digital television network, RDC was given permission to use MUX2 by AEM.

The network of local MUX was performed in 2016.
